Cover can start at raw material ordering and run through to packing into master cartons. Where an order justifies it our staff stay at the factory for days, weeks or months, testing materials, confirming the production schedule and pulling random units off the line. The most common check, and the same thing as our Standard Inspection. It runs once cargo is packed into master cartons, or at least 80% finished, on a random sample of the order. To do it properly we need either a sample in hand or a purchase contract with detailed specifications to measure against.
We supervise the loading itself: the container in sound condition, the space used properly with no large gaps, and every master carton loaded gently rather than thrown. It also confirms the supplier ships exactly what you ordered. Applies to full container shipments loaded at the factory.
Every quality control inspection covers the items below, measured against the approved sample and written into the report, so a disagreement with the supplier is settled with evidence rather than opinion.
Independent inspectors do useful work and for some buyers they are the right answer. But these six complaints come up again and again from importers who used one before they came to us, so they are worth stating plainly.
Inspections have to be booked at least one to two weeks in advance. If you are in a hurry there is nothing to do but wait, and a delayed shipment can hurt the business more than the defect would have.
Checking even a small proportion of the batch can run to more than 200 USD. If the first inspection fails, you pay again for the re-inspection.
There is a real chance the company charges you and still misses the defects. We have heard this from clients repeatedly: goods arrive at the Amazon warehouse, selling starts, and the bad reviews come in. That is very hard to recover from.
A third-party company inspects, writes a sheet listing everything wrong, and sends it to you. They are not responsible for solving any of it. You are left holding a list of problems and a factory that did not create them for you.
Some inspectors ask the factory for money, and make the report look unfriendly if it is refused. Once an inspector has taken something from the supplier he is no longer only your man, and the report stops reflecting the real state of the goods.
Clients want to see the actual product with their own eyes, not just a report sheet and whatever photographs the inspector chose to take. Most inspection companies do not support a live call.
