The one rule to check first

China requires every hotel to register the personal details of foreign guests with the public security bureau. Only properties with a specific overseas-reception licence can complete that filing. A hotel without it cannot legally accommodate you, regardless of what the booking platform says.

This matters in Yiwu more than in most cities because the hotel market has grown fast to serve the trading boom, and many newer or smaller properties have not applied for the licence. Where to stay in Yiwu

Yiwu is not a compact city. The two places foreign buyers spend most of their time — the International Trade City and the city centre — are far enough apart that the hotel location changes how the trip actually runs.

Near the Trade City. Hotels in this section (Landou, Yunjing, Baiyi, Chuangwangfu, Luckbear) let you walk to the market in the morning and walk back at lunch to drop samples. The daily commute disappears. The trade-off is that the area is functional rather than pleasant. Restaurant choice is limited, evenings are quiet, and there is not much to do after the market closes. For a three-to-five-day sourcing trip, that is rarely a problem. For two weeks, it wears on you.

City centre and Chouzhou Road area. Hotels in this section (Junchen, Bai Heng, Yuejia, Jiahua, YaJun) add fifteen to twenty-five minutes each way to the Trade City, depending on traffic. Over a five-day trip with two trips a day, that is close to four hours in transit.
